From the 16th to the 23rd of May the seventh edition of the BIMBACHE EXTREM will take place, and for the second time the competition will go on in the REGION OF CASTILLA Y LEÓN.
IT WILL START FROM THE VILLAGE OF VEGACERVERA, IN THE PROVINCE OF LEÓN, 35 kilometres away from this province's capital cityl, on the 18th of May at 9.00 a.m. THE FINISHING LINE WILL BE PLACED AT AGUILAR DE CAMPOO, a place traditionally well known due to its old production of biscuits, in the province of Palencia, on the 21st and the 22nd of May.
WITH SEVERAL NOVELTIES…
Although some novelties will be introduced in the 2009 event, the original guidelines of adventure and overcoming of difficulties that have been inspiring this competition during its 6 years of life will be maintained.
The test will cover a distance of about 450 kilometres, which the teams, all of them formed by four people and compulsorily mixed, should cover on their own, by means of natural and unmotorised devices, with no external help or any king of orientation electronic systems or GPS. They only will be allowed to use the compass, as well as the cartographical maps which will be supplied by the organisers.
Wild nature, adventure, teamwork, overcoming of difficulties, men and women equality, respect for the environment and dynamic tourism are some of the characteristic features of this multiform competition.
As far as landscape is concerned this edition will be quite beautiful with plenty of mountain sceneries and the teams will have the opportunity of enjoying the traditional hospitality of the tiny villages placed over there. The mountains of Picos de Europa, Sierra de Manpodre or mountain of Palencia shall be watching the competitors pass through on their path to the finish.
As a novelty and for the first time in the Bimbache Extrem there will be an amusing and exciting rafting descent in torrencial waters, as well as the habitual disciplines like trekking, mountain bike, roller skating, canoeing, speleology, rappel, tyroline and canyoneering.
In the 2009 version there will be a maximum of 30 teams, and registration of teams will take place strictly attending the order of complete entries (entry form and bank transfer).
During the 2009 event a significant number of journalists, substantially major than in previous editions, will attend the competition, and one of our goals is that the teams progression shall be watched through the Internet, so that everybody in the world will be able to follow every and each detail of the race.
